I love reading about Gaia. Your experiences were moving to to witness, thank you. "And now you are sitting there, legs crossed." - My favorite line, though the entire thing was wonderful. Thanks for letting us see this!
I have had the fortune of traveling quite often and as a child too. There are a few places I’ve been to that give me that sense of spiritual belonging- like I lived there in a past life. It is a feeling of being known that is hard to explain.
“It's a feeling of being known”-- you said this so beautifully!
For me it was such an incredible thing to feel that in a place so far from anything familiar. And what amazed me even more was how the feeling stayed with me. Thank you for reading and sharing your words here!
Wonderful. I live near the beach and go all the time, but for me that deep feeling of home, that sigh of release, that flush of all anxieties has happened in two places: Sequoia National Park and The Playa in Black Rock City (Burning Man).
Sequoia—ancient mother‐—deep body connection—old protection
The Playa at Black Rock City—my imagination comes to life—stories—dust—time—the divine magic—complete and total release to experience—home
I love how you describe Sequoia as the ancient mother with that deep, grounded protection. And the Playa with wild magic, the dust, the freedom...Thank you for sharing that!
It’s intriguing , the way you say “unbound and yet rooted” Helena. It looks like a paradox but in an alternate world this might just very well be possible . I felt conflicted when I read this, when I’m able to realise that the world we live in strips us of what we need the most , of the joy that’s in simple things and the pocketfree living that was once possible . Your writing is gentle yet stirring , Helena! 🌺
Helena! You do this to me every time, I'm always left completely swept away by your tremendous talent, and this post was no exception. I am so enchanted by your work. I could feel this, it was so tactile, it really was as though I was on that beach, the tide softening something within me.
Talk of home is always tricky for me, it's something I feel very attached to, yet also confused by. But the way that you describe it as a presence, the earth herself, alive and receiving, really struck a chord deep within me. Chills!
We really don't always need roots in order to feel grounded. It is enough to know that the earth exists there, under our feet, wherever we are, and is listening. Belonging doesn't have to be tethered to stillness, but, rather, to sensation, attention, communion.
It really feels that this has come at the right time for me, and I truly thank you for sharing. I've been thinking a lot about my version of home lately, and your words make me think that perhaps she's been walking beside me all along.
Gorgeous poem! I live close to the water and near the shore is where I find renewal listening to the wind in the reeds and watching the bees in the goldenrod
Reading through, wanting to release the tears of the deep truth you share here, Helena. Tears of the immense love that abounds our Home, if we just allow that moment to sit with Her. And tears of the reality of disconnection we can get stuck in; that is causing so much dis*ease in our societies.
Thank you for sharing your story with me; yes! So relevant to what I explore in my Substack, "Are You Home?" Absolutely loved reading and traveling through your poem and story. So grateful we are here in connection, siSTAR.
You were right, this really speaks to me. If I could ever diagnose myself, it would be through that line - 'How do you stay unbound and rooted?' The constant dilemma and swing of the pendulum. So much to think about. Thank you!
This is stunning writing beautiful Helena. It stirred beautiful experiences within me. I have a deep connection with the beach and Gaia also. You are a gifted poet 💖

My pleasure! Thanks for your post.
Wow! What an exciting journey you have been on.
I definitely relate to the feelings you get just being on a beach.
I miss living near the sea.
But my journey over the last fewg years has been very much inward.
I haven't been anywhere physically, but I have travelled huge distances inwardly.
Home is in the heart. I think I always knew this as a child but then forgot it.
Now I remember again.
I heard someone say this recently, "Our purpose on this earth is not to learn, but to remember."
Loved this. Very powerful writing! 💪
You did something many people dream of doing and you manage to describe it in a way that sounds realistic without losing the spirituality of it.

This is stunning writing beautiful Helena. It stirred beautiful experiences within me. I have a deep connection with the beach and Gaia also. You are a gifted poet 💖
Your writing feels like sitting by a fire someone else built for you. Just warm and beautiful.
The sea, the ocean, a river, streams, all help your nightmares melt into dreams.
Thank you for the read, your words touched my mind and my heart. It is good to escape to the water’s edge (and beyond). Grae :)
